Fall Sewer Construction Season Begins September 8th
Includes daytime and overnight work in Centerville, Marstons Mills, and Osterville

(HYANNIS, MA – September 1, 2026) Sewer construction on main roads will resume across the Town of Barnstable after Labor Day. Beginning Tuesday, September 8, various crews will remobilize to continue work in portions of Centerville, Marstons Mills and Osterville. Initial construction activities will include work along Phinney’s Lane, Shootflying Hill Road, and Route 28, as detailed below.

Throughout construction, access to businesses and residences will be maintained with traffic control on-site to assist motorists. Depending on the location and timing of active work, motorists may need to seek alternate routes. As always, please slow down and use caution when traveling through road construction areas and follow posted safety and detour signs.

As construction progresses, work zones and traffic patterns will change. Additional work zones are anticipated later this fall and will be communicated as schedules are finalized. Updates will be shared in the Town’s weekly Barnstable eNews, on the Town’s Facebook and Instagram, and through the MyBarnstable mobile app, available on the App Store or Google Play Store. Real-time construction-related road closures are updated and shared through the Waze App and Google Maps.
