Sewer main installation continues to progress across multiple locations, including on Phinney’s Lane from Huckins Neck Road to Longview Drive, on Phinney’s Lane from Route 28 to Great Marsh Road as well as on Strawberry Hill Road between Route 28 and Wequaquet Lane.

As construction develops, traffic management plans are adapting to support a safe working environment, while also addressing local traffic needs. While formal road closures and posted detours shift with construction, all closed roadways will continue to remain open to resident traffic only.

Horizontal Directional Drilling

During the week of Monday, December 19 through Friday, December 23, 2022, horizontal directional drilling will be used for pipe installation at the intersection of Route 28 and Strawberry Hill Road. Strawberry Hill Road, from West Main Street to Route 28 and from Route 28 to Wequaquet Lane, will be closed to accommodate this work, as shown in Figure 1 below. All roadways will remain open to resident traffic only and access to businesses will be maintained. Motorists should expect delays.

Construction equipment will be mobilizing daily, surrounding the intersection. Motorists should expect delays. Formal road closure and posted detours will be in place, along with police details to assist in directing traffic. Some areas with unfinished road conditions will require the use of steel plates. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through the road construction areas, and follow posted safety and detour signs.
